The Glen Eyrie Castle

Yes, this was it 2 weeks ago.  A place as fantastical as this does exist.  In Colorado Springs.

Our 2014 COM Staff Conference was in CO Springs this year, at the Glen Eyrie Conference Center (a Navigators ministry facility).  It was a picturesque place, tucked away in a valley near Pike’s Peak and a 25 min. walk to The Garden of the Gods.

Let’s be honest.

The state of Colorado is the ideal vacation spot for hikers and outdoorsmen everywhere.

This place truly allows you to experience God’s magnificence and to want to draw nearer to Him.  Our week was filled with challenging teaching by Roy King  and Brian Kluth of the Generosity Movement.  Dr. King is a professor at Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina and Mr. Kluth heads up a ministry devoted to stewardship and generosity.  Dr. King’s teaching focused on finding and developing healthy, authentic community and Mr. Kluth’s teaching focused on generous giving and trusting God in all things including finances.

As you can imagine, both these topics are areas of great struggle for most people.  Nick and I were greatly challenged to apply some new ways of thinking and ideas to how we live our lives.  These lessons were good lessons to process before starting our ministry at Purdue University.  God always challenges us to trust him more and to view him as BIGGER!!

It was also great to meet some other COM staff members and hear stories of their ministries.  It is always good to have shared passions and interests.  We were 80+ people in one big conference room who all LOVE Chinese students and scholars.  That. was. awesome.

The staff conference was such a great way to start the final leg of our partnership building and begin thinking about moving into full-time ministry.

Praise the Lord for His grace which is the reason why we do the work we do!
