brief marriage synopsis

Nick and I (Lydia) want to inform you that we have now been happily married for 23 days.  For those of you who couldn’t be at the festivities, here is a very brief account of how it all happened.

Wedding Ceremony
On August 8, we were married on a day that began rainy, with some light drizzle.  After our marriage ceremony at the church, we were pleasantly surprised that the sun was peaking through the light grey clouds and we were able to take some pictures outside of the church!  We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.  Our wonderful bridal party (very intensely capable bridesmaids) tied all the loose ends together, to make a ceremony that went smoothly and perfectly.  I am sure I still don’t know half of the things that were done in order to make the ceremony go so well.  All I know is that I wasn’t even stressed that day and it was just a fun and exciting day for me and Nick.

Wedding Reception
Our reception was at a Mediterranean place with good Mediterranean food and our DJ was so wonderfully flexible.  Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the music and danced til almost midnight!  Nick and I ducked out at around 10pm and left for our hotel for that evening.

Honeymoon, Destination:  Nova Scotia
The next morning we headed off to Halifax, Nova Scotia on the eastern seaboard in Canada.  For those of you who do not know where Nova Scotia is, it is north east of Maine.  We spent 7 fun-filled days in Nova Scotia, in Halifax and other surrounding cities.  Our favorite spot was Trout Point Lodge near the Tobeatic Wilderness.  When we arrived at Trout Point Lodge, we were SHOCKED to find out that this place was a luxury lodge, with 4-course Creole cuisine for dinner and a fully gourmet style breakfast with freshly-squeezed orange juice, fresh-picked berries and omelettes and smoked salmon and more!  Upon our arrival, we were taken on a little walking tour of the grounds, which included a hot sauna, outdoor hot tub adjacent to the river, canoes and kayaks for use anytime, as you please and a nice hiking trail around the grounds.

Our ridiculously nice “cabin”
We were even more surprised when we got to our “cabin.”  This “cabin” was by no means what we expected (1-room, small kitchen and bathroom).  This cabin was an A-frame building, 2 floors with the 2-car car port/garage on the first level and with the actual living quarters taking up floors 2 and 3.  Cub Cottage (the cabin’s name) was on the river, with a deck and a 2nd floor and 3rd floor patio that overlooked the river and was fully furnished with lazy boys, a fully functional gourmet kitchen, a whirlpool, king size bed, all pine wood paneling, washer-dryer and dvd player and stereo system.  Welcome to our cabin of 3 nights, 4 days!  It was amazing.

CA Reception
The days we spent at Trout Point Lodge were unforgettable and were perfect to start our marriage with.  We were truly pleased with this place we found on the internet.   After our honeymoon, we spent 1 week in Los Angeles/South Pasadena with my family and had a reception for some friends in CA who couldn’t make it to the OH reception.  The CA reception was fun too, with the highlight being my sister’s first baking extravaganza:  the 3 tiered wedding cake of 3 different flavors!  It was amazing.  If you need someone to make wedding cake for you, Megan Tsui is the answer!  🙂

PRAYER POINT:  Settling Down

So now after all the festivities finished, we are back in Grafton, Ohio, where we are starting our job search and living at Nick’s mom’s place temporarily.  It is nice to finally be living in one place for more than 1 week.  It is also nice to start going to interviews and spending more time on the internet, in the newspapers, talking to people about job openings in the area.  If anyone knows of any openings near Cleveland, OH, Nick is looking for a job that will use his BA degree in Mechanical Engineering and I am looking for something related to TESOL or professional piano accompaniment.  This is the area in which we need the most prayer support.  Please continue PR ing for us in this area.
